About this event…
On November 11th, The Security Institute will hold our annual Remembrance Event. Although due to the on-going Coronavirus pandemic we have chosen to host this virtually, the importance of honouring the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community remains the same as ever. This event is one of the many ways that the Institute continues to recognise the contributions of our Armed Forces community, the British and Commonwealth veterans, the Allies that fought alongside us and the civilian servicemen and women involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Joining us as our Guest Speaker for this event is Regional Employer Engagement Director for the Ministry of Defence in the West Midlands, Cat Suckling, is responsible for developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships between employers and Defence. Focusing on businesses in Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire, Cat builds on the foundations of a document called the Armed Forces Covenant, which businesses and organisations sign to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.
Cat will be discussing how for all businesses, Defence engagement should begin with the Armed Forces Covenant, which businesses and organisations sign to pledge support to the Armed Forces community. Once signed, businesses are able to access a range of benefits including access to recruitment of veterans, Reservist unit partnerships, exclusive leadership training days and insight briefings, and invitations to high profile events such as Trooping of the Colour and the Cosford Air Show. The bottom line is that it should pay to support Defence and through the Armed Forces Covenant and the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, Cat will be able to support you to maximise your current and potential future relationships with Defence.
Following the presentation we will host a Charity Auction for which all proceedings will go to this year’s chosen charity.
We do hope you can join us for this year’s Remembrance Event from the safety of your own home.
