The Security Institute relaunched the Awards Gala Dinner on the 18th April 2023 and we received many worthy applicants for each award category listed below.
The Security Institute also launched the Odette Hallowes SOE Award for a person or group who have made an exceptional contribution to the safety and Security of others – the Award may also be posthumous in recognition of the work done by someone no long with us; this award is dedicated by The Security Institute.
‘Outstanding Contribution to Security Award’ in memory of George van Schalkwyk in recognition of a Security Institute member who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the security profession
‘Academic Achiever of the Year Award’ in memory of Wilf Knight recognises the achievement of a university student who has research on a security topic and produced an informative and innovative dissertation.
‘Institute Learner of the Year Award’ in memory of John Aplin recognise the achievement of a Security Institute member who has successfully completed their Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Security Management and demonstrated it has enhanced their knowledge and skills effectively.
‘President’s Award for an Outstanding Young Professional’ celebrates the achievement of a the next generation of security leaders to recognise a Security Institute member under the age of 35 who has personally had a positive impact on their organisation or the wider security sector.
‘International Achiever of the Year Award’ is in recognition of a Security Institute member who has made a significant contribution to security outside the UK.
‘Volunteer of the Year Award’ to recognise a Security Institute member who has made a significant voluntary contribution to the Institute, for example through the Membership Management Advisory Group, Validation Board, Special Interest Group, Young Members Group, assisting at events and exhibitions, and other volunteer roles within the SyI.
The EDI Initiative of the Year Award is presented for the best contribution or initiative to promote and support ED and I within in the security community.
Security Innovation or Product of the Year Award is presented to a security organisation, team or individual that has designed, created or launched training programme, app or initiative to improve security.
The ‘NextGen Star Award’ goes to a young person who has demonstrated their interest in furthering their career in physical or Cyber security by studying, an apprenticeship or work placement.
