SW Region CPD Event

Frazer-Nash Consultancy, Narrow Quay House, Prince Street, Bristol, BS1 4AQ
This inaugural Joint CPNI and SyI South West regional networking and CPD event will focus upon a topical and emergent security risk, that of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) (or "drones") risks that is now out of the realm of science fiction and novelty and very much impacting on every day life. Featuring presenters from CPNI and industry, we will explore the latest HM Government advice, and look at a range of practical countermeasures and case studies form commercial and defence sectors. The prevalence of UAV threats impacts on many aspects of security risk management across a very broad range of sectors within the security industry. Examples include, but are not limited to: Critical National Infrastructure; public safety;  sporting events; retail; prisons; and hostile reconnaissance. This event is open to: (a)  members (at any level) of the Security Institute; (b) Chartered Security professionals (CSyP), and; (c) members (at any level) of the CPNI Register of Security & Engineering Specialists (RSES) with priority given to those based in the SW Region. Every year the Security Institute Chairman chooses a charity partner that the Institute supports. This year we are proud to support Send a Cow.

Send a Cow was set up by a group of Christian dairy farmers from the UK in 1988. Outraged at EU milk quotas, which were forcing them to slaughter healthy dairy cows, and in response to an appeal from Uganda for milk, they embarked on a project, which was set to become an innovative and practical charity. Uganda was just emerging from a long civil war, communities and their farmland had been destroyed and much of the country’s livestock wiped out. Several of the UK farmers flew to Africa to investigate how they could help.

In 2017 the charity Emerge Poverty Free merged with Send a Cow. Together they support even more families in Africa, empowering them to secure their own futures and helping them to lift themselves from poverty.
