Use Xref, layers, families and attributes efficiently in the production of security drawings and details
Use, create and manage 3D families
Set up drawings and making them ready for design production
Produce accurate design and equipment schedules from security design information
Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for security projects in Revit and AutoCAD
Help to technically deliver CAD/BIM projects in the role of CAD/BIM coordinator

Educational Requirements/Qualifications

Proven experience in the use of AutoCAD, Revit and BIM 360 a necessity
College-level education in relevant subjects

What are the key responsibilities of the Security Officer role?

What might a normal day look like?

Job Purpose
The post holder will work as part of the Campus Security Team (CST) to provide a range of professional, flexible, and reliable in-house security, safety and traffic management services to all staff, students and visitors and university properties across the university portfolio. Personally, delivering a front line professional, customer centric approach to enhancing the student experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service

  • Deliver friendly, customer centric, proactive security support to all users of the university property. Be visible, maintaining a high profile with customers and staff and personally taking action to resolve security issues and deliver an excellent support service to enhance the student experience
  • Promote a positive image of the University at all times by personally living the values, maintaining a professional appearance, wearing protective clothing/workwear as issued during external and internal patrols, gatehouse monitoring, gatehouse reception duties, traffic and pedestrian gate duties
  • Delivering a full range of delegated support activities, including directional information about the location of campus buildings, providing access to services for campus users, contractors and visitors and as and when required providing reception and ceremonial and events security support services and relevant visitor information in person, by telephone or email
  • Signpost and advise students, staff or visitors to the correct support services both internally and externally. This may involve interacting with students in periods of distress/crisis and supporting our international student population
  • Provide practical support to and respond to fire alarms, building alarms, safe zone activations and emergency situations also providing first aid, evacuation chair and evacuation lift support, when appropriately trained to do so. Including responding to assistance notifications from staff, students and visitors with disabilities where assistance may be needed with building evacuations

  • Use supportive marshalling techniques with traffic pedestrian flow for students, staff and visitors entering and leaving campus gates, turnstiles, and buildings
  • Working as a proactive team provide security support during University business, events and graduations to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently
  • Monitor standards of behaviour including control of substance abuse, violence, language, noise, theft, nuisance etc throughout the University and report via the correct system to support Student Services and the Student Conduct Team

H&S Compliance and Security

  • Ensure that all access Gates (traffic and pedestrian) are opened and closed as necessary on each working day or when directed by management
  • Enquire into and systematically investigate unauthorised access onto campus, buildings, or parking on campus using all available information and facilities
  • Accurately complete incident reports and accessible records of all security occurrences, investigations and reports as necessary
  • Supporting the locking and unlocking of premises, in accordance with the Key & Access Control Management policy at all times maintaining records ensuring the uplift and return of building keys, operation of burglar alarms, as necessary
  • Following training act as Fire Warden/Evacuation chair operator to ensure the safe evacuation of University buildings
  • First responder to all emergencies including administering first aid following first aid training
  • Liaise with any contracted on-site security personnel as well as University accommodation staff thus providing a reliable support service to Student and Academic Services. Occasional Duties

  • Attend court or any other formal or lawful proceedings thus representing the university as a witness where appropriate
  • To assist on an occasional basis with unplanned emergency cleaning externally, body fluid spillages, and ensure buildings and surrounding areas are kept safe. Picking up litter and supporting the emptying of external waste and recycling receptacles on weekends and out of hours where unexpectedly high usage on campus necessitates prompt action
  • During periods of bad weather support gritting and snow clearing of main paths and car park areas to ensure buildings and surroundings of the cluster are kept safe
  • Where necessary, undertake periodic compliance checks of buildings to ensure a safe working environment for customers/students, including routine fire safety checks, routine lighting inspections, etc. Complete and hold accurate records of checks including using relevant computer systems and software packages

Dimensions
The Campus Security Team (CST) is part of Facilities Services (FS) within the Estates Services directorate in University Services. A range of facilities services are delivered through a zonal/cluster model. The CST support all zones and clusters within the Gilmorehill and Garscube Campus and also support University premises in some other locations. Campus Security Officers will work cooperatively with cluster staff to confidently deliver a seamless facilities, traffic and security support service to the University over a 24/7 basis. Over time and as knowledge and experience grow, staff will be able to confidently support the cluster facilities staff to respond to peaks in demand and deliver a consistent service to customers.
Campus Security Officers will develop excellent knowledge and understanding of local systems and procedures particular to the University. Day to day functions are broadly carried out on using own initiative and in close liaison with the CST Supervisors and managers in line with University requirements and customer needs during the academic year.
The University campus is complex multicultural environment and accommodates large numbers of staff, students and visitors from all over the world. At any given time, the post holder will confidently interact with a large number of customers on a daily basis. Working as part of a central CST supporting the facilities cluster team involves the post holder aiding other areas across Campus, as and when required by the CST Management team, Head of Service or Facilities Manager.

Planning and Organising

  • Plan and organise own duties effectively and efficiently (in response to unplanned incidents or other events) to meet service requirements, including some planning to manage and coordinate sizeable events taking place on campus. These are normally pre-planned days and weeks in advance and staff who are scheduled to work on duty are given specific roles or delegated duties to perform.
  • The overall role of facilities traffic and security staff is pro-actively supported by a range of up-to-date technology.

Decision Making

  • Beyond decisions taken each day by CST Management Team to address known traffic and security factors, the post-holder can be expected to use initiative and judgement to make immediate decisions whilst at work in relation to sudden circumstances encountered on campus, to support day to day incidents and events to ensure the efficient running of the campus.
  • Work in line with university policies and procedures, make decisions on routine matters in the absence of line manager including escalating matters to the CST Management team or appropriate service, as appropriate.

Key Contacts/Relationships

  • Communicate regularly with line manager, liaise and communicate with staff, students, visitors and University services.
  • Maintain good working relationships by responding positively and professionally to assist and guide University staff at all levels, students, visitors, the police and other emergency services, outside companies/agencies and contractors.
  • Over time, liaise with other facilities services staff to learn basic protocols and procedures applying in critical buildings and to support colleagues through advice, guidance, coaching and basic training to support and multi-skill other facilities staff on protocols and procedures that apply on campus.
  • Working cooperatively with facilities security and facilities cluster teams and with University colleagues in the short term and longer term to pass on knowledge regarding specific building procedures obtained through working within the University.
  • Some unexpected situations can become volatile, and the University is committed to assessing risk and putting appropriate measures in place to reduce exposure to the threat of verbal and physical violent abuse for staff performing uniformed job roles.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative as well as to systematically address demands and issues encountered (sometimes spontaneously and without warning) and be able to seek guidance or direction from line manager when in doubt or unsure to provide prompt and speedy solutions.

Associate security Officer

Associate Security Officer – GL C – French Speaking

The Administration Team ensures that:
• The Global Fund administration is aligned with the organizational strategy and priorities;
• The management of administration services is based on effective policies for facility management, travel, conference management, asset management and security;
• Administration services are delivered in a timely and efficient fashion in support of the Global Fund vision and mission.
The Administration Team provides the overall vision and leadership for strategic administration resources management and provides appropriate information and measures for staff safety and security and support the HR Department for health and safety at work.
As part of this mandate, the security and safety team is highly critical to safeguarding the organization and its staff both at the Global Health Campus (GHC) and when travelling on mission, particularly at times of increasing threats in ensuring that adequate security and safety policies and procedures are in place and implemented in order to minimize risks and liabilities for the organization.
Under the oversight of the Senior Security Officer, the Associate Security Officer is responsible for providing support to ensure that the organization applies best standards and processes in respect to Duty of Care vis-à-vis its staff and the protection of the organization in relation to the new ways of working in a post Covid-19 environment
This function falls under the Global Fund obligation to build a broad culture addressing the health, safety, security and well-being of employees and other related collaborators to the business. To do so, the organization is expected to develop and deploy appropriate travel risk management approaches to protect people from possible harm.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Security Officer, Administration Team, the Associate Security Officer will:

  • Be responsible to support building and enhancement of a robust Safety and Security framework in line with the concept of Duty of Care and related moral and legal obligations of the Global Fund Secretariat, to its employees and contractors, and to maintain their security and safety when working at the GHC

  • Assess the risks and threats to the security of the GHC, staff, visitors and property, applying recognized methodologies, and recommend the appropriate operational and technical measures to the Senior Security Officer;

  • Propose, draft, and implement the GHC security and access control procedures in line with the security concept for headquarters. Organize and conduct periodic assessments of security measures and equipment. Advise on gaps in security preparedness and recommend improvements and solutions. Ensure procedures are updated in line with evolving ways of working at the GHC;

  • Supervise the security guards, provide daily guidance, establish and track individual training plans and conduct performance evaluations. Monitor and coordinate the outsourced guards’ contractual and invoicing arrangements; oversee performance and quality control of services rendered; update duties and terms of reference when required.

  • Provide information on fire safety and first aid requirements, procedures and operational instructions to GHC security guards;

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Security Officer, coordinate the initial response to security incidents and escalate when required. Analyse and make recommendations based on lessons learned. Draft detailed reports and keep relevant statistics reflecting the security situation at headquarters, including accidents and incidents;

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Security Officer, propose an annual security and safety training programme. Arrange for training to be conducted, either in person or by a third party and organize practical exercises to test emergency procedures during simulated emergencies;

  • Plans and manages the effective provision for fire and general safety emergency procedures. Provides training for, and supervision of all emergency responses including initial response for first aid, fire, evacuation and premises wardens; is responsible for the operational performance of all security and safety systems and procedures including fire detection, fire sprinklers, and fire suppression equipment;

  • Draft and coordinate the dissemination of guidelines on physical security and access control at the GHC;

  • Support the design, implementation and monitoring of a security and safety strategy, related policies and procedures for the organization both at the GHC

  • Coordinate in preparing direct and proactive advice and guidance to the Executive Director and the Management Executive Committee (MEC) on safety and security matters in emergency situations and keep them abreast of security management issues, risks and shortfalls in relation to the crisis management framework;

  • Support the Global Fund’s response in case of crisis and emergencies related to security, in line with the Crisis management plan;

  • Provide assistance in the security coordination with GAVI, and other sub-tenants of the Global Health Campus (approximately 1,700-2,000 staff), and coordinate to ensure that all necessary expertise, safety and security management for high-level meetings are provided;

  • Review security expenditures and support the mobilization of resources to assist the organization in the implementation of security requirements;

  • Liaise with Swiss authorities (federal, cantonal and city levels) on safety and security matters and represent the organisation on security management issues in different forums, strengthen partnerships and work in close collaboration with other international organizations, international NGOs, the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and other members of Inter-Agency Security Management Network (IASMN), as well as the host government authorities;

  • Conduct risk assessments and consolidate recommendations to minimize health and safety at work issues, accidents and injuries and support HR for the production of reports;

  • Assist the Senior Security Officer in travel security matters including the approval processes, mission planning and other field security activities.

  • Act as Officer in charge for security in the absence of the SSO.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • University degree in Safety and Security Management or an equivalent qualification, social, international relations, government or law, or military/police academy degree,

  • Advanced first aid, fire safety and emergency rescue training certifications, and ideally the candidate has a very good knowledge of Swiss standards (e.g. lngenieur de securite ou Charge de securite pour la protection incendie AEAI). Another relevant European physical safety and security standard could also be considered.

Desirable:

  • Project Management certification. Business Continuity Management qualification. MA degree in public or business administration, social or political sciences, international relations, government or law, or military academy degree

  • Fire safety diploma CFST or equivalent.

Experience

Essential:

  • Substantial relevant professional experience in security management level including experience in an international development context with relevant military and/or police service.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and training of fire safety and buildings risk management including Swiss or European fire safety standard.

Desirable:

  • At least 6 years relevant professional experience in security management Experience with a similar size and multi-cultural organization and good knowledge of the Geneva environment.

  • Crisis management proficiency training.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Very good interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain good working relations.

  • Ability to independently plan, organize and implement work assignments, and to identify priority activities and adjust priorities as required.
