About Integrated Protective Security
The Integrated Protective Security Command (IPS) is responsible for securing the Agency to protect the public.
IPS safeguards the NCA from the full range of security threats that target the Agency, our officers and our assets, to enable the organisation to achieve its operational objectives, both domestically and overseas, with flexibility, agility and integrity.
IPS officers provide specialist security services to the Agency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to mitigate security risks.
As an officer within the command you will be responsible for implementing bespoke, efficient and proportionate protective security measures that adapt and respond to evolving security threats. Using an intelligence led, risk-based approach you will operate within the three pillars of security (cyber, personnel and physical) to defend the entire NCA by preventing, responding to and managing security incidents wherever they arise.
IPS is a diverse command, providing specialist services across the following disciplines:
Business continuity and disaster recovery, Sensitive Intelligence Management Unit.
- Counter corruption
- Supply chain security.
- Cyber defence.
- Technical security.
- Information assurance.
- Physical security.
- International security.
- Professional standards.

IPS reports to the Director General Operations, with a dedicated Deputy Director and senior leadership team aligned to each of the security pillars. We are responsible for people, processes, technology and standards, operating across the NCA to support operational and non-operational teams, along with the Command Team, to ensure the Agency remains resilient and retains public confidence in a volatile and complex threat landscape.

Job description
The NCA’s Professional Standards Unit works within the NCA’s Integrated Protective Security command to ensure effective working relationships, between officers, our partners and the public by maintaining confidence in the agency. We have legal and statutory obligations around how we manage complaints and potential conduct matters.

We are currently looking to recruit an Investigations Manager to join our team.
What will the successful Candidate be doing?
As a Investigations Manager you will be required to deal with a range of sensitive issues in a highly confidential environment.
You will supervise a team of officers who undertake investigations into allegations of Gross Misconduct, Misconduct, Public Complaints, occurrences of Death or Serious Injury and some criminal offences (suspected to be committed by NCA officers). There will also be a requirement for you to lead some of your own investigations.
You will provide advice and guidance to PSU Investigators and support non PSU staff who are responsible for investigating issues on behalf of the unit. You will also be required to promote professional standards across the organisation, delivering presentations and supporting the agencies training programme’s when required.
**To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role and achieve DV clearance within the first 12 months in post.**

Key Responsibilities
As a G3 Investigations manager in the PSU, you will:
Conduct and/or supervise investigations into:
• Allegations of Misconduct and Gross Misconduct
• Public Complaints
• Death and Serious Injury Incidents
• Offences committed by NCA officers
You will also:
• Ensure that investigations are carried out thoroughly, expeditiously and proportionately in accordance with legislation, NCA Policies and oversight body guidance.
• Ensure your team produce high quality investigation reports ensuring compliance with guidelines, legislation and policy, for submission to the CPS and/or internal disciplinary proceedings.
• Present cases to any subsequent disciplinary proceedings.
• Work with and support PSU Managers to risk-assess incoming work and agree allocation and prioritisation of investigations.
• Promote the role and responsibilities of the PSU and enhance awareness of risk areas throughout NCA by attendance at and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.
• Contribute to the establishment of strong working relationships, with both internal and external partners, whilst presenting a positive image of NCA and the PSU.
• Must be able to achieve and maintain DV clearance.
Travel across the United Kingdom may be required at short notice as may the requirement to work extended tours of duty.
Qualifications
• Experienced and nationally accredited investigator qualification – PIP2 Supervisor (or equivalent)

- Experienced and nationally accredited investigator, with the ability to manage multiple caseloads (yours and others) and prepare investigation reports within strict time limits.
- Proven experience in dealing with sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality and duty of care in accordance with government or NCA policy and legislation
- Proven drafting/report writing skills.
- Proven experience in managing risk in pressurised operational environment.
