Job description

The effective use of data to inform decision making is at the heart of our organisation. You will design, create and manage the organisation’s Data Architecture across all five domains, to identify opportunities, deliver operational effect and keep our soldiers and marines safe. 

Some of the problems you will face include

  • Modernising legacy data systems to create a federated data fabric across the organisation.
  • Working with partners and allies to ensure that data is discoverable and accessible, such as implementing ontologies to manage data across security classifications, domains and geographies. 
  • Working with standards bodies to influence the development of NATO, IES and NCGI standards.

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Designing data models and metadata systems and help the Chief Digital and Data Officer to interpret business needs.
  • Providing oversight and advice to other data professionals who are undertaking the design of data systems.
  • Ensuring that respective teams are working in accordance with the NATO, IES and NCGI data standards and manage the governance of those standards.
  • Working with Technical Architects to make sure that organisation’s systems are designed in accordance with the appropriate data architecture.
  • Working with stakeholders bringing differing views together to facilitate reaching a consensus in line with data strategy.
  • Providing oversight and advice in the form of coaching and mentoring to other Data professionals who are undertaking the design of data models and reference data.

Job description

This role will be joining the Cyber Assurance team, a critical component of the Cyber Directorate responsible for evaluating and improving cyber security across government. As part of this team you will be shaping the analytical products of GovAssure, using assessment data to deliver insights into the cyber security challenges facing the Government and its partners. Royal Navy Develop Directorate – SPECAP System & Security Manager

The Special Capabilities (SPECAP) organisation is a small team working in the Development (DEV) area of the Royal Navy, with the remit to oversee and manage highly sensitive programs and to advise on the development of new capabilities, often using novel or emerging technologies. The team is tasked with ensuring a smooth progression from development to operational employment. This covers a wide remit and involves provision of specialist advice both on operational employment of SPECAP capabilities, and to the DEV innovation team in identifying key new projects and highlighting capability gaps, to guide future development.

Job description

The system and security manager (SASM) role is the key enabling role in the team, being specifically tasked with provision of security management and administration. As a key member of the team, you will also be expected to assist the SPECAP team leader and SO2 Ops and engage with coalition partners, single services, Navy Command, MoD, PaG, DE&S, DSTL and other governmental departments as required.

The SPECAP admin role will be responsible for the provision of

  • SASM. Manage all administrative and security processes within the office; preparing and processing SPECAP paperwork; checking / managing security clearances, including STRAP and DV; maintaining all SAP databases and maintaining a comprehensive diary for the SPECAP cell.
  • SPECAP equipment. The role also has responsibility for the correct receipt, handling, maintenance, storage, and dispatch of classified SPECAP equipment.

The office is expected to expand in output over the next few years which means there may be increased development opportunities which may also include for coordination output for up to three E-band roles performing the same function.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to fill the role of Head Office Business Resilience Ops lead in MOD Head Office. This is an exciting, high-profile role which works across the Head Office estate. The office is a busy, fun, and supportive environment.  the post holder will be required to be flexible to delivery a mixture of operational delivery functions alongside ensuring compliance with departmental resilience processes.

You will be required to establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and Private Finance Initiative colleagues who provide the hard and soft facilities management /infrastructure works for Main Building.

You will be required to engage and respond to all operational resilience incidents including assessing the impact on the building for planned maintenance works.  You will be required to provide proportionate risk-based advice to the Principal Security Advisor, Deputy Head and Head of Establishment to drive forward the right outcomes for Head Office. The Cyber Security Team leads the strategic response to cyber risks, cyber defence and assurance of the Agency’s IT platforms.

What will the successful Candidate be doing?

If successful you will work within the newly created Security Operations Centre, supporting the SOC Analysts to keep all SOC services running smoothly whilst identifying and implementing continual service improvements. Reporting to the SOC Manager, The SOC Engineer supports the SOC capability by ensuring that extant security technologies, such as SIEM, IPS and boundary firewalls are managed, configured and maintained to meet both system and service requirements (such as SLAs KPIs and availability targets). The successful candidate will be dedicated to learning about the hardware and software that underpins the SOC services, leveraging previous experience in managing and maintaining similar security technologies in a Secure Operations environment. The Cyber Security Risk Insights Lead position sits within the Cyber Compliance, Insights and Exploitation Team (CCIX), a small, highly specialised team within the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) directorate in Defence Digital.

The CCIX team develop and maintain a wider understanding of cyber risks of our existing systems, by reporting on critical insights from system and strategic gaps and issues. Drawing in audit information and various MOD data sources, the team is responsible for helping senior stakeholders to plan, across Defence’s complex and challenging environments, on cyber risks.

In this role, you will be supporting upward reporting and briefings, regarding compliance and metrics and insights, to enable seniors (all the way up to the Defence Board) to make informed prioritisation and investment decisions. You will play an important part in the development of Defence’s metrics across all systems, providing analysis and deriving insights to further the understanding of existing systems and their vulnerabilities.

As a result, you will develop a wider understanding of these systems across a complex environment of inter-related IT projects, programmes and initiatives, identifying possible gaps and issues. Job summary

The unit’s primary focus is to guide, coach and carry out the independent assessment of trainee investigation and intelligence officers. This provides assurance that those who complete our highly regarded training programme are occupationally competent and capable of leading the fight against serious organised crime.

Job description

  • Support the NCA recruitment process, assessing the aptitude / capability of applicants for the investigation accredited pathways to ensure recruitment of the right people.
  • Drive up operational standards across the NCA commands by reviewing investigation processes, recommending and implementing improvement changes that achieve compliance to policy, standards and legislation as well as building capability across the NCA.
  • Working with key stakeholders (College of Policing, Police Forces, Crown Prosecution Service, NCA Commands and NCA Legal) to ensure new legislation, standard operational procedures and best practice is introduced to NCA operational commands.

*To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role and achieve DV clearance within the first 12 months in post.*

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop new trainees on the Officer Development Programme (ODP), professionally assessing trainees knowledge and application of skills to point of their completion of the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) or Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP).
  • Sourcing opportunities via partner agencies to develop staff and to ensure they achieve relevant accreditations.
  • Undertaking professional discussions with new and existing staff to identify skills and training gaps.

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

Investigation role:
Current/active PIP2 Investigative Accreditation or an equivalent Government issued qualification/accreditation.

Individuals who do not currently hold PIP accreditation are still eligible to apply as long as they hold an equivalent recognised accreditation in investigative crime issued by a Government body. Investigators who join the agency without PIP2 accreditation may be required to achieve this, including passing any exams (National Investigators Exam (NIE) and/or the NCA Specific Powers Exam).

IPP Intelligence Officer Accreditation

Intelligence Analyst roles:
IPP Intelligence Analyst Accreditation
