The NCA has grown in size and complexity in recent years and it is vital that it maintains a security posture and capabilities to protect against existing, new and emerging threats.
The Integrated Protective Security Command (IPS) is responsible for securing the Agency to protect the public. The IPS mission statement is:
“Delivering integrated protective security to build a resilient, high-trust Agency able to lead the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime.”
IPS safeguards the NCA from the full range of security threats that target the Agency, our officers and our assets, to enable the organisation to achieve its operational objectives, both domestically and overseas, with flexibility, agility and integrity. Its officers provide specialist security services to the Agency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to mitigate security risks.
Job description
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Cyber Security Officer to join our Cyber Security Team based within the NCA’S Integrated Protective Security command.
Locations: Central London, Birmingham, Bristol, Warrington.
What will the successful Candidate be doing?
The Cyber Security Team leads the strategic response to cyber risk, cyber security function, oversees audit and testing, building internal and external alliances with diverse stakeholders to deliver the NCA’s strategic objectives.
If successful you will work within both the Cyber Response Team and Information Assurance Team. It is the intention, that you will be trained in both disciplines to provide resiliency during either incident or audit. As a senior officer within the team, you will quickly become the go to person, for questions on the security of the NCA’s networks and systems and response to security events. You will work within a small, established, team of cybersecurity professionals made up of Crown Servants and trusted private sector partners.
To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role and achieve DV clearance within the first 12 months in post.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Response
• Provide an Initial response to computer security incidents. Once confident with the Agency’s systems and networks, you will act as a member of the on call cyber incident first responders. You will be required to be available outside of normal working hours as part of a rota.
• Provide expertise, guidance and advice in IT Security related matters, including maintaining up to date knowledge of network, application and communications security solutions, as well as emerging technologies.
• Support the Agency’s cyber security programme, working to assist in maintaining acceptable level of IT Security risk to the NCA.
• Collaboration with adjacent commands to support the overall aim of lowing risk to data loss.
• Support to Senior Management Team in the delivery of an effective and efficient departmental service.
• Provide support, guidance and expertise in relation to Incident Management. Giving direction on vulnerability identification and risk mitigation.
• Develop and build internal and external partnerships working collaboratively to foster good relations, including working with other government departments. Attend working groups, government committees and meetings.
Information Assurance
• Provide advice and guidance in Information Assurance matters to senior business risk stakeholders including Information Asset Owners (IAOs).
• Work with the IAO and Information Custodians (ICs) to ensure that each IAO knows their IA responsibilities and their data remains secure.
• Ensuring the security of the NCA’s IT systems through the completion of security audits and risk assessments to ensure that IT security is implemented in accordance with Government Security Classification as well as relevant laws, regulations and standards.
• Make recommendations and provide policy guidance to senior management on IT security issues including leading the development of IT Security policy and procedures.
Qualifications
Recognised higher education in an IT related area, and/or, able to provide evidence of completion of training in digital security that has the potential to lead to a certification, from a recognised body. eg. GIAC, ISC2, BCS, ISACA, CompTIA etc.
Experience in working within an IT system support or security support field.
