Job description

Working in a multi-disciplinary case team with talented investigators, lawyers, economists and delivery professionals, you will play a key role working on the CMA’s Competition Act 1998 portfolio, driving forward the investigation of one or more suspected competition law infringements. You will lead on many aspects of investigations, from initiation all the way through to decision making and beyond, supporting our Litigation team in any appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

You will be responsible for setting the direction and strategy for investigations, ensuring cases are robustly planned, gathering and analysing complex factual, economic and legal evidence, identifying and managing legal and economic risks and will draft key investigation documents, including statements of objections and final infringement decisions.

Leading by example, you will ensure that the Antitrust and Cartels teams deliver to a high quality, to time and budget and achieves the aims set out for investigations.

In addition to progressing a major investigation, you may help to develop intelligence leads, apply for search warrants for inspections, bring proceedings to disqualify a director, or devise a media campaign to amplify the deterrence message of a successful enforcement outcome.

You may also get involved in the development of cartel and antitrust policy at a national and international level and have opportunities to represent the CMA externally

Working in our Antitrust and Cartels enforcement teams, you will play a central role in a multi-disciplinary case team, investigating one or more suspected competition law infringements. The Dedicated Surveillance Team supports criminal investigations through the collection of evidence and intelligence by means of deploying covert tactics. •    Supervise all Security Officers on shift at the Unit, deploying them to cover tasks as laid out in Assignment Instructions and in accordance with the Joint Business Agreement/GSSOR

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in the Information and Security Team within Legal and Governance Directorate.

As the Lead Advisor within Records Management, you will monitor internal compliance, inform, and provide advice regarding all aspects of Records requests and act as a contact point for all information requests received from both internal and external customers  and end users.

Job description

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in the Information and Security Team within Natural England’s Legal and Governance Directorate.

As the Lead Advisor within Knowledge and Information Management (KIM), you will monitor internal compliance, inform, and provide advice regarding all aspects of KIM requests and act as a contact point for all information requests received from both internal and external customers / end users.

You will also support internal compliance on our SharePoint On Line (SPOL), Records Hub and other digital systems as well as providing data to support the Security and information Dashboard.  

Within this role you will also be working, at times, with the Data Protection Manager and the Security Officer, you will champion the highest access to information Standards and drive forward compliance across Natural England. As well as building expertise within the organisation and working on a range of exciting new programmes and projects, you will capture learning and embed improved ways of working to ensure that our legal position is robust, and we are upholding our core values.

Crucial to this role will be the development of an expert knowledge of all aspects of the Security and Information Team areas of responsibility as well as a proactive and pragmatic approach.

Key tasks/principal accountabilities:

You will be required to manage, develop, and champion NE’s corporate records management policies and procedures, in accordance with the Public Records Act and other related legislation.

Overall management and delivery of the corporate retention procedures for paper and electronic records.

Liaison with the Area Team’s on relocating or closing of facilities (record storage issues).

Support and contribute to the following:

  • Electronic Records Management
  • KIM Team Information
  • SharePoint On Line (SPOL)

Promote and develop good records and information practice across the organisation.  Use appropriate tools and methods to train, support and inform customers.

Keep in touch with knowledge and information management (KIM) events and issues across the wider profession through membership of relevant societies and participation in working groups.  

  • Providing advice and guidance to Managers and teams on the requirements of SPOL Asset Owners and site Owners, conducting SPOL health checks and reporting, their duties, and responsibilities and where necessary, provide support to help frame responses. 
     
  • When performing your role, you will have due regard to the risks associated with release of information, and consider the nature, scope, context, and purposes of releasing information within Natural England. 
     
  • Work with the wider Legal, Governance & External Affairs Directorate on Data initiatives to ensure a robust governance programme is managed.  
      
  • Engage closely with and support a range of central services that play a key part in keeping Natural England’s Data safe, managing information, and using technology in its best form, applying appropriate control measures. Whilst, also, working flexibly across the Team as might be required to meet priority work needs.
