The team undertakes money laundering investigations, seizing cash, and restraining and confiscating criminal assets.  We also work collaboratively with and support other law enforcement agencies in tackling organised crime.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individuals to join a new, dedicated National Cash Team within CFI.

Job description

The successful candidates will focus on cash-related activity for CFI (both border and inland) and will have responsibility for most detained cash investigations where there is a suspicion that the cash is derived from, or intended for use in, immigration offences.

Tasks will include (but are not limited to):

• Operational deployments to identify and adopt detained cash investigations.

• Undertaking / progressing detained cash investigations.

• Conducting interviews.

• Giving evidence during court hearings (all CFI staff are required to disclose any adverse judicial decisions or internal disciplinary matters under CPIA. Applicants need to bear this in mind when considering their eligibility for this post).

• Participation in a national on-call roster.

• Accurately report activity on departmental / local databases and on the Joint Assets Recovery Database (JARD).

• Reporting to the Chief Immigration Officer and His Majesty’s Inspector with case updates / progress.

• Actively manage a case load of investigations. You will be accountable for expedient and thorough investigations whilst adhering to strict Court timetables.

• Stakeholder engagement including Multi-Agency Cash Cell (Border Force led); CFI, ICE, VCT and Rapid Response Team peers; Immigration Removal Centres. Officers will assist in promoting the team’s work to increase its profile, workstreams and referrals.

Some initial financial intelligence training will be provided and there is potential for future personal development to include Financial Investigator training.

  • The posts require a commitment to working flexibly and will involve some travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays where necessary.
  • It must be borne in mind that the successful applicant may be required to comply with court attendance timetables which may change at short notice. The level of travel required for the post, sometimes at short notice, may result in long working days. There is a requirement to participate in an on-call roster for out of hours referrals.
  • In line with other frontline CFI roles, this is a mainly office-based role with working from home to be discussed and agreed with the Chief Immigration Officer when appropriate.

TICAT is the single point of entry (gateway unit) into the NCCU for reporting new information, intelligence and incidents relating to serious cyber-crime.
It has three core functions:

Triage: The team is responsible for the receipt, triage and assessment of referrals into the National Cyber Crime Unit, including crime reports from National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and actionable intelligence from various partners.

Incident Management and Coordination: The team takes a leading role in the management of high profile, sensitive and critical live time Cyber incidents requiring an immediate Law Enforcement response as well as coordinating the investigative response and facilitating liaison between the NCCU, the victim and key partners, principally the NCSC, Regional Organised Crime Units and key international partners during other ongoing cyber incidents.

UK StratCom Senior Security Investigator

UK Strategic Command (UK StratCom) Investigations Team positions are part of the Principal Security Advisor (PSyA) department of a busy 4*Headquarters.  The demanding and operational nature of the Headquarters means that this role will require a significant level of flexibility and professionalism.

UK StratCom is one of the four front line military commands (alongside Navy, Army, and Air Force) which conducts joint operations and generates, develops, and manages key enablers. It has approximately 22,500 military and civilian personnel deployed across the UK and worldwide. UK StratCom is a 4* HQ and a Top Level Budget (TLB), tasked with developing and preparing an integrated Joint Force for current and future operations. It has a unique structure, with a small Headquarters that works above, and with, a number of subordinate organisations, including Permanent Joint Headquarters, Defence Intelligence, Defence Digital and MOD A Block. UK StratCom also has management and operational responsibility for the Overseas Bases of Gibraltar, Cyprus, the South Atlantic Islands, British Indian Overseas Territory and British Defence Support Unit Singapore.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The UK Strategic Command Senior Security Investigator will manage a team of investigators and support staff delivering response to and, investigation of security breaches, taking an investigative role for assigned cases, including unauthorised disclosures of information.

The role of the Senior investigator will include overseeing the development of a counter-security breach strategy; analysis/ lessons learned; internal and external reporting; and response and coordination across Strategic Command.

UK (and possibly overseas) Travel and a high level of flexibility will be required to support the outputs of the team.

The position is based at Northwood and attracts the relevant recruitment and retention allowance. Hybrid and Flexible Working are available but time in the office is required. This will generally be a 60-40 split with 3 days in the office and 2 days per week WFH. Wherever travel is required flexibility can be applied.

 Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct a range of complex security investigations.
  • Gather, verify and assess all appropriate and available information to gain an accurate understanding of situations to an agreed case investigation plan.
  • Develop and evaluate strategies to manage investigations, working closely and communicating with staff at all levels.
  • Analyse and interpret data, examine records and documents presenting the information accurately for use within investigations.
  • Prepare, complete and submit accurate reports to the highest professional standard and within set time limits to the Senior Investigator.
  • Handle, store and dispose of document / exhibits in accordance with MoD Policy.
