This role is a critical part of our Cyber Regulation team  which protects consumers by driving an increase in the cyber and security resilience measures of Ofgem-regulated companies. You will play an important role in managing Cyber Regulation projects, activities and communications whilst working closely with the senior leadership team and a wide range of public and private sector stakeholders.

Your work will enable a number of programmes designed to protect consumers across Great Britain by reducing risk and enhancing the cyber resilience of the electricity and downstream gas sectors. You will be central to our internal governance, risk management, planning and delivery.

Joining a multidisciplinary team as a Senior Cyber Project Manager, you’ll contribute to projects with high strategic impact that are critical to Great Britain’s critical national infrastructure.  It’s a role that involves extensive collaborative working – often on complex subject matter. You’ll need to be an accomplished project / programme delivery manager (accustomed to working with agile and/or waterfall methodologies) and it’s likely you hold a professional qualification in this. Ideally you will have a strong passion for cyber security or related area. You’ll be a highly motivated self-starter who can work independently and in teams, who appreciates the need for excellent communication, engagement, collaboration with different stakeholders, ability to write concisely – driving the appropriate balance between robust governance arrangements and not over-burdening participants. You should have a positive track record of managing and delivery of projects, e.g. developing and executing plans; managing risks and issues; driving and motivating diverse teams; use of project methodologies and tools; and reporting effectively. You should already hold or prepared to undergo SC vetting process, in accordance with national security vetting procedures.

This role will be part of the Cyber Regulatory Team, within the Cyber Profession within Ofgem, tasked with implanting regulations for Operators of Essential Services (OES), to improve security and resilience. The role expects working involvement with Ofgem directorates, governmental departments and other Competent Authorities, as well as industry.

The key purpose of the role is to manage the delivery of Cyber initiatives, projects, activities and communications. The role will maintain and develop robust internal governance, risk management, delivery reporting, and resourcing.

You will be expected to be a self-starter, working with a diverse stakeholder client base, including permanent and contract resource. The complexity or breadth of products or teams will vary in this role, depending on the context. As a Cyber Delivery Manager, you will be expected to directly manage and/or support the delivery of multiple projects and complex products, made up of different teams and stakeholder interest. You will also be expected to provide leadership and oversight over a broader portfolio of projects.

This role will require a collaborative approach in working with colleagues both within Ofgem and with any co-sourcing partners, we may be working with. The candidate will have an extensive programme and project management experience and a pragmatic approach that balances the need for governance and rigour, while not over-burdening the stakeholders.

Within Ofgem this role is known as Senior Cyber Delivery Manager.

Key Outputs and Deliverables
  • Programme and project management: Drive programme and projects to deliver on key milestones by developing and maintaining robust plans and roadmaps, covering key aspects, for example: producing plans (e.g. for Assurance, Incident & Compliance programme); deliverables and milestones; resource planning & management; roadmaps and timescales; status.
  • Risk management and data management: Develop and maintain pertinent registers/logs, further driving options, actions and improvements e.g. upkeep and maintenance of the NIS OES Register; risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) for programme/project; asset register. On anticipating risks, issues and dependencies – create viable options by articulating benefits, risks and impacts on options to minimise/highlight any disruptions/reputational damage in the decision making process

The Risk Analyst will support the Senior Risk Manager in qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, risk reporting and management of the risk database and act as a the initial point of contact (POC) for risk across all MPP UKStratCom UK Projects Team for risk. The role provides the relevant information to Programme Risk Manager to support front line command (FLC) risk-based investment decision making and will support risk working groups as required.

Job description

The Role

As a Custodian Apprentice at the Prime Minister’s Office, you will help to protect our people and assets to make our complex security operation a success. You will work with a team of motivated professionals to provide a reassuring presence, while conducting a range of security duties and responsibilities.

A focus of the role will be to use bespoke security architecture (e.g., CCTV and Access Control systems) to maintain security assurance across our estate. You will also be responsible for processing visitors and vehicles and engaging in incident and emergency response.

Shift patterns and allowance

As a Custodian you will work a 24/7 shift pattern comprising of early, late and night shifts (including bank holidays & weekends). The average working week is 37.5 hours over 5 working days and two rest days. As such the basic pay is enhanced by 36.97% in allowances as of 2023.

Job description

As a Physical Security Manager, you will work as part of the Information Management & Security Team. Your role will be to support Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Government security initiatives, and providing technical advice for Security project work.

You will oversee current physical and personnel security processes and work to develop and refine policies and procedures, to ultimately deliver security improvements across the workforce and the breadth of DVSA estate covering main offices, shared buildings to enforcement sites or driving test centres. You will also represent DVSA on cross departmental (and wider) working groups to ensure unity with the Government Security landscape. Line management responsibilities will be required in this post.

As a proactive person, you will work to understand, and be able to interpret the latest policy and guidance being asked of DVSA. You will update DVSA policies accordingly and work with colleagues to understand the impact of, and the best way to, implement such policies across DVSA services.

You will have a drive to move forward with positive change and have an interest in wider security policy. You will also have the ability to form strong relationships with DVSA colleagues and the wider Department for Transport security colleagues, enabling collaborative working and experience sharing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Support the DVSA Estates Strategy by understanding its ambition and being part of the enabling team to achieve it, keeping aligned with Government Strategy on protective security.
  • Work with Cabinet Office protective security colleagues as part of a contracted arrangement to build in additional assurance arrangements as part of an annual cycle of work.

To thrive in this role, you will have experience of physical security and knowledge of protective security and threat understanding. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of physical security auditing and be comfortable influencing policy decisions.

You will have previously been a part of a matrix team, with experience of collating and reporting on the assurance of physical security.

You will be able to successfully demonstrate an understanding of the link between physical and personal security, and information security and it’s uses. You will enjoy influencing others, encouraging them to make the right decisions in line with the business/department strategy.

NCSC Support to Cyber Regulation – Senior Technical Consultant

Regulation plays a growing role in ensuring the cyber resilience of organisations that are vitally important for the normal day-to-day life of the country, such as those organisations that make up the UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). We are looking for an individual to fill the newly-established post of Senior Technical Consultant for the NCSC Support to Regulation Team (StRT), responsible for delivering high-quality technical support to the use of NCSC-provided tools and capabilities by the regulatory community. 

Job description

The StRT Senior Technical Consultant will assist cyber resilience regulators make effective use of the portfolio of technical resources that NCSC has published specifically in support of cyber regulation. This portfolio, which has been widely adopted by cyber regulators, includes a Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) that enables regulators to set required cyber security levels and assess how well-regulated organisations are meeting those requirements. Specifically, working directly to the StRT Tech Lead and partnering with a wide range of relevant NCSC teams, the successful candidate will: 

  • Deliver high-quality technical support to users of the portfolio.
  • Contribute to the technical development of new and/or amended elements of the portfolio.
  • Undertake maintenance of the portfolio, keeping it up to date with changes in the cyber risk landscape (such as the evolving cyber threat picture).

The role is suitable for flexible working arrangements, include an element of home working. Some travel is required, including travel to occasional meetings in London (if not London based). 

The StRT Senior Technical Consultant will be encouraged to take full advantage of the extensive opportunities for continued career development in technical cyber security provided to NCSC employees.

  • A good understanding of technical cyber security as demonstrated by an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. NCSC Associate Cyber Professional or similar).

You will be processing STRAP Induction requests and scrutinising information according to STRAP policies for suitability. Briefs will be provided upon arrival and departure for new personnel and your customer service skills will help you build strong working relationships with our internal and external stakeholders. Liaison is required with other branches of the MOD and intelligence agencies.  You will be a line manager of 2 x E1 personnel as well as act as their Clearance Team Leader. You will be the subject matter expert, providing STRAP policy advice and assistance to personnel at Northwood HQ.
