Job description
Working at the heart of a high profile £160m+ per annum Capital Infrastructure delivery team, this exciting new post will sit within the MPP UKStratCom Programme Management Office (PMO).
The Risk Analyst will support the Senior Risk Manager in qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, risk reporting and management of the risk database and act as a the initial point of contact (POC) for risk across all MPP UKStratCom UK Projects Team for risk. The role provides the relevant information to Programme Risk Manager to support front line command (FLC) risk-based investment decision making and will support risk working groups as required.
If not already held, the successful candidate will be required to gain both Management of Risk (Foundation) and Managing Successful Programmes (Foundation) qualifications in the first six months of taking up the position.

Person specification
An MPP UKStratCom Risk analyst will:
- Support Project Teams through scrutiny of risk registers and risk management plans ensuring all relevant risks are gathered, prioritised, and led appropriately and ensuring that risk registers are being utilised accurately and evolving as projects mature.
- Ensure that all Project Managers (including industry partners) understand their risk management responsibilities and are aligning with Government risk management policy.
- Contribute to formal risk reports and briefings to management boards.
- Contribute to Quantitative risk analysis reporting, utilising Monte Carlo simulation software where appropriate.
- Carry out detailed scrutiny of industry partner Quantitative analysis figures for all projects to ensure risk budgets are being accurately calculated and financially profiled across the programme.
- Ensure optimism bias is in check throughout all projects by scrutinising and cross-checking optimism bias calculations.
- Provide SME input and direction in risk workshops and, under direction of the Programme Risk Manager, ensure a consistent approach is maintained across all projects.
- Act as DIO risk interface with TSP/industry partners throughout a projects’ lifecycles and through all stages of the risk management process, scrutinising and questioning their rationale at every stage where appropriate.
- Work with Programme Risk Manager in building and reporting on the aggregated picture of risk across the programme and in regularly assessing the Programme’s risk management maturity level.
- Monitor qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, promoting mitigation planning on a cost/benefit basis.
- Ensure DIO and Industry Partner Project Managers are producing and implementing effective mitigation plans and adjusting probability figures as projects progress to ensure accurate analysis/assessment.
- Supervise compliance with MOD and DIO policy, instructions and provide mentorship.
- Raise significant risks and issues to the relevant parties.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience of operating within defence.
- Working knowledge of security and risk related JSPs.
- Knowledge of risk management software.
