Extradition is the formal procedure for requesting the surrender of a person from one country to another for the purpose of prosecution, to be sentenced for an offence for which the person has already been convicted or to carry out a sentence which has already been imposed.
The National Extradition Unit comprises a team of officers with operational responsibility for the coordination and management of extradition related cases. The unit is made up of two hubs, one based in London and one in Warrington.

Job description

The unit:

  • Provides 24/7 tactical advice & support alongside the NCA in all reactive extradition related encounters;
  • Receives, triages and risk assesses all incoming requests from overseas territories where the requested person is believed to have a footprint in England & Wales;
  • Undertakes enquiries to locate the fugitive and will make the arrest utilising all available tactical methods where requests are graded as medium, high risk or complex;
  • Monitors the outcomes of court hearings, manages bail compliance and coordinates enforcement activity in relation to breaches;
  • Processes & coordinates all removals from E&W where a surrender has been ordered
  • Provides guidance and tactical advice to law enforcement on searching for fugitives overseas
  • Undertakes all collections where arrests of fugitives wanted by E&W are located abroad
  • Participates in cross agency working groups & write national policy & guidance

There will be an expectation of a willingness to travel both nationally and internationally with a number of nights away when operationally necessary.


Office Hours: Core hours are between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday.  There will be a requirement to cover an on-call rota as the unit has 24/7 availability.  There is also a large degree of flexibility required including the ability to travel nationally and internationally at short notice.

You will be part of the Intelligence & Operational Support Team which has two primary responsibilities:

  • To provide intelligence support and specialist covert capabilities to extradition fugitive enquiries.
  • Case review, allocation and management to both extradition ops teams and police forces across England and Wales.

You will lead of a team of both police and police staff intelligence officers.  It is expected you will be a source of expert advice across a broad range of specialist covert policing tactics.


You should have practical experience of both surveillance, the use of communications data and the management of applications under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the Investigatory Powers Act 2006.


The role requires the supervision of the receipt of intelligence from both UK and international partners ensuring appropriate dissemination, oversight and management in line with the principles of the National Intelligence Model.


You will take responsibility for the professional development of team members by guiding, coaching and securing relevant development and training opportunities to enhance individual and team competence and enable consistently high quality performance.


Your role will also require extensive liaison and networking across all police forces within England and Wales to drive activity around extradition cases allocated to them.


This role will involve shift work and unsociable hours at short notice including an on-call rota, therefore an element of flexibility is required.  Flexibility to travel both nationally and internationally, often at short notice, will also be required.


The work of the unit can be high profile and crime types are extremely varied.


Work Involves:

  • Review, allocation and management of extradition cases.
  • Supervising and leading deployments under covert authorities.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to operational fugitive teams around the available covert tactics to support their investigations.
  • Monitor staff compliance to relevant legislation.

As a Health Security Threat Analyst within All Hazards Intelligence (AHI) at the UK Health Security Agency you will be responsible for monitoring and assessing potential health security threats and providing intelligence-based risk assessments to inform decision-making. The health hazards that you will be assessing include both endemic and emerging infectious diseases as well as chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CRBN) threats. This will involve analysing complex data sets and synthesizing health related information to develop a clear understanding of current and emerging health hazards the UK is facing. Extradition is the formal procedure for requesting the surrender of a person from one country to another for the purpose of prosecution, to be sentenced for an offence for which the person has already been convicted or to carry out a sentence which has already been imposed.
The National Extradition Unit comprises a team of officers with operational responsibility for the coordination and management of extradition related cases. The unit is made up of two hubs, one based in London and one in Warrington.

Job description

The unit:

  • Provides 24/7 tactical advice & support alongside the NCA in all reactive extradition related encounters;
  • Receives, triages and risk assesses all incoming requests from overseas territories where the requested person is believed to have a footprint in England & Wales;
  • Undertakes enquiries to locate the fugitive and will make the arrest utilising all available tactical methods where requests are graded as medium, high risk or complex;
  • Monitors the outcomes of court hearings, manages bail compliance and coordinates enforcement activity in relation to breaches;
  • Processes & coordinates all removals from E&W where a surrender has been ordered
  • Provides guidance and tactical advice to law enforcement on searching for fugitives overseas
  • Undertakes all collections where arrests of fugitives wanted by E&W are located abroad
  • Participates in cross agency working groups & write national policy & guidance

There will be an expectation of a willingness to travel both nationally and internationally with a number of nights away when operationally necessary.


Office Hours: Core hours are between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday.  There will be a requirement to cover an on-call rota as the unit has 24/7 availability.  There is also a large degree of flexibility required including the ability to travel nationally and internationally at short notice.

You will be part of the Intelligence & Operational Support Team which has two primary responsibilities:

  • To provide intelligence support and specialist covert capabilities to extradition fugitive enquiries.
