The Nuclear Institute (NI) is the UK’s professional membership body dedicated to the nuclear sector. Established in 2009 through the merger of the British Nuclear Energy Society and the Institution of Nuclear Engineers, the NI represents over 4,000 professionals across all levels of the nuclear industry. It offers routes to professional registration and chartership, including Chartered Scientist, Chartered Engineer, and Chartered Environmentalist statuses.

The NI maintains the Nuclear Professionalism Standard, supports continuing professional development, and facilitates networking through events, branches, and special interest groups.
