Education and Learning

         New Co-Chairs Announced

         for the Security,

         Education, Accreditation,

         Training and Standards

         (SEATS) SIG

The Institute’s Security, Education, Accreditation, Training and Standards (SEATS) SIG is proud to
announce that Tracey Lilley MSyI (from the Security Industry Authority) and David Brook MSyI (from
SecuriGroup) as the new SEATS SIG Co-Chairs, with the former Chair Robert Kennedy CSyP FSyI acting
         as the sponsoring Director.
Through the SEATS SIG, David is looking to use his experiences to support others in the sector and
hopefully build on the excellent work of previous co-chairs. This presents an exciting opportunity to
contribute to raising academic and professional standards within the sector.

Tracey added that she sees the SEATS SIG as a platform to bring together a wide body of
stakeholders and practitioners involved in education, accreditation, training, and standards within the
security sector to share ideas and good practice.

The SEATS SIG is now in a position to expand its membership and would welcome new members
from academia, industry educators, trainers and any individual who aspires to become an educator
or simply has an interest in this subject.

With the Protect Duty gaining momentum, it is a reasonable assumption that the next three to five
years will be pivotal to the further professionalisation of our industry. This will build on the fantastic
work accomplished so far, with great strides forwards already achieved. The formation of the UK
Cyber Security Council is a great example of where industry comes together with a common goal, with
many SyI members contributing to this major achievement. Whilst this is a huge step forwards, we
must remember that protective security is formed of physical, personnel, technical and cyber security
mitigations. That said, it’s clear we still have a long journey ahead of us!

The SyI will soon have a total of 15 SIGS including the SEATS group detailed below:
         • Business Continuity, Emergency Planning, Crisis Management & Resilience (BECRes)
         • Built Environment Security (BESSIG)
