This demonstrates a wide collective of specialisms formed by a
community of individuals with an altruistic mindset that seek to
enhance the professionalism and profile of the business of security.
The membership makes the institute and will continue to ensure the
institute is a vehicle for change.
The role of the SEATS SIG is to become the conduit for all of the SIGS
to advance. This will be achieved by supporting each and every SIG
with the development of educational resources to enable progress.
The SEATS SIG will naturally become the force multiplier for each and
every SIG to enhance the knowledge, skills and behaviours across all
sectors from the ground up. The primary focus will be to raise levels
of competence which in turn will enhance professionalism.
Tracey Lilley MSyI
Why join? SEATS SIG Co-Chair
Ultimately to prosper, the SIG needs to work for the individual
member as well as the institute. Members of the SEATS SIG will
benefit from the exposure to the various educational needs
provided by the other SIGS. This will provide a valuable insight
into the ‘bigger picture’ ensuring the individual member (and their
employing organisation) has both foresight and contemporary
knowledge at their disposal. The group will provide peer support
to enable you (and your organisation) to meet and overcome
educational challenges and share best practice. Members will be
encouraged to bring challenges to the table, with the collective
altruistic minds within the SIG utilised to enable solutions that will
benefit all.
The benefits to those individuals interested in joining the SEATS SIG
are numerous and will enable personal growth whilst also providing
an added value to the organisation that the individual represents.
How the SIG will work? David Brook MSyI
SEATS SIG Co-Chair
The SEATS SIG will conduct quarterly meetings to provide members
with an overview of current developments which will include the SIA
Apprenticeship Trailblazer progress and a round up from the other
SIGS and the progress made with the Protect Duty.
From these quarterly meetings, working groups will form to best
meet the requirements the educational challenges that SEATS
members need support with.
The Security Institute has at present over 4100 members, that’s
4100 individuals that contribute to the further professionalisation
of the industry we care so passionately about. Together, we can
achieve so much, let’s build momentum and make sure the SyI is the
vehicle for change that our membership deserves.
The next SEATS SIG event
Tracey and David are looking forward to hosting their first SEATS SIG
event as the new Co-Chairs on July 20th, details will follow shortly on
the Community Platform.
