SyI Annual Awards Gala

Since 2018, we have been successfully holding our prestigious Gala Awards Dinner annually, where we as an organisation
recognise Security Institute members through nominations and award giving. The Security Institute Awards recognise and
celebrate the achievements and contributions of our members and colleagues in the security sector from the past year. Last
year’s event saw an increase in the number of award categories, seeing a new total of seven award categories which were
specifically chosen to maximise the range of members who can now be recognised for an award, with all from Student
membership to Fellow members being able to put themselves, or a colleague forward for nomination.

The restructure of the awards took considerable deliberation and research into our members achievements and with diversity
in mind, the Institute decided to create the new awards to recognise those, such as our International Achievers who work
tirelessly overseas to implement safe environments, and Volunteers of the institute who give their time and efforts to the
success of the organisation. We also decided to implement new awards recognising young professionals of the Institute,
and the young people who participate in our #NextGen initiative to actively recognise the future security professionals of our
industry.

On the 3rd July 2019, we welcomed members and guests of the Institute back to ZSL London Zoo for our event once more,
where guests were greeted with a prosecco drinks reception on the Penguin Beach enclosure, with a surprise visit from Andy
the llama. A fantastic experience to not only enjoy the company of our feathered and furry companions, but to also meet
fresh connections, make new friends and catch up with other likeminded professionals.

The evenings proceedings were compered by Institute Director Paul Barnard CSyP MSyI who did a fantastic job of hosting the
event, as well as present the awards along with various award sponsors, Peter Lavery FSyI and Baroness Ruth Henig CBE CSyI.

Award nominations for the 2020 Awards Gala Dinner opened on the 30th January 2020 and will be closing on the 1st October
2020. We strongly encourage our members, or colleagues of members to nominate someone worthy of winning, you can

The 2020 Security Institute Awards Gala will take place on the evening of 8th December 2020 at Sea Life London Aquarium.
