In December 2019 we launched the Institute Quarterly magazine, replacing our bi-monthly newsletters. The magazine
is available to both members and non-members, and is a free fantastic resource that can earn readers formal CPD
The Institute Quarterly
points.
Each edition is circulated via email to all of our consenting members, as well as posted on our website, our mobile
app and all our social media channels. This gives the Institute Quarterly a combined digital audience of over 40,000,
one of the largest in the sector. Also, a small number of printed copies are sent to all contributors and distributed at
some of the country’s largest security exhibitions and events.
The magazine spotlights key achievements of our members in the dedicated ‘Our Membership’ section, which
has proven to be an excellent outlet for professionals to share their journey with the security community and help
establish further connections from within our readership. All members are actively encouraged to submit editorial
content for each edition, previous issues have included pieces from previous Students sharing their experience of
distance learning, Affiliate members discussing their entry into the security industry, as well as Fellows (FSyI) and
Chartered Security Professionals (CSyPs) detailing how the latest developments within the industry affect their daily
work.
To ensure that all of our members are aware of the resources available to them through membership, the
magazine provides further information regarding our facilities such as our Mentoring Scheme and our Professional
Development Platform. In addition, all events and activities from the upcoming and previous 3 months will be
outlined. This content is all supported by a regular ‘CPD Guide’ section, that allows readers to easily track their
progress whilst participating in our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme.
Expanding on the old-style newsletters, each issue of the new 60-page Institute Quarterly has a greater emphasis on
industry news and includes several articles from thought-leaders from within the security industry. This encourages
readers to participate in active debates from within the industry and supports their knowledge of on-going security
developments.
Furthermore, the ‘Security Community’ section highlights the work of our partners within the industry and provides a
platform for senior external voices to share their perspective on key developments within the sector.
