The App unfortunately provided some challenges, both technically, but more importantly it has been a challenge getting Security
Institute members to accept the app as a really easy way to complete CPD. With the review in 2019 of the Toolbox, it is hoped that in
2020 further improvements will be made, which will then themselves be reflected in the App from 2021. The App is only available to
Security Institute members, whereas the Toolbox (https://security-institute.org/cpd/) is available to any security practitioner.

Awareness is constantly drawn between making the Toolkit available with the subsequent submissions and Head Office resources.
However, with plans afoot for addressing the resourcing, it is intended that the Toolbox will become more and more widely accepted
and used by individuals who are not Institute members.

2019 has seen Continued Professional Development become much more than three letters that become forgotten. 2019 has seen
Continued Professional Development starting to become established, both with individuals and organisations alike, as a necessity.

Protecting a Regulated Construction Site with EDF Energy

In July we held a conference at Hinkley Point C Power Station, kindly co-hosted
by G4S, which discussed the challenges associated with protecting the largest
construction site in Europe that employs over 5,500 multinational and ethnically-
diverse workers across 80 contracted organisation. It outlined the benefits of a
strong client/contractor partnership in the delivery of a risk-proportionate and
cost-efficient integrated security service whilst also meeting the stringent regulatory
and legal requirements associated with the civilian nuclear industry.

Attending this course earned 10 formal CPD points.

A Journey less Perilous - Safer Travel in a Complex World CPD event highlights

In September, this one-day workshop looked at a range of tools and
approaches to managing organisational travel risk and provided a
unique insight into how the Met Office have developed their effective
travel risk management system, in conjunction with Edson Tiger

           Mental Health First Aid Course

In November, we ran a ‘Mental First Aid Champions’ course
in conjunction with Mental First Aid (MFAC) England. This
was designed to give our members the tools they need to
address the common issues surrounding mental health in the
workplace, and in their day to day lives.

Attending this course earned 14 formal CPD points.
