Pride in London

The Security Institute was thrilled to take part once again in
this year’s Pride in London event. Olivia Lamyman our Events
Administrator represented the Head Office team alongside
large numbers of our members and the wider security sector,
who joined together to raise awareness and celebrate the
LGBTQ+ community! Pride in London took place on Saturday
1st of July 2023. It celebrates diversity, inclusion, equality, and
promotes the freedom to “Be Yourself,” which is especially
important within our security sector. Thank you to all the
members and the wider security Industry that signed up to
support this fantastic event!

Collaboration Learn and Lunch

On Tuesday 11th July 2023 we held our Fellows & Young
Members Lunch and Learn at the Union Jack Club in London.
The event was hosted by The Security Institute Director Carl
Dakin CSyP FSyI, the then Deputy Chair Frank Cannon CSyP
FSyI, and The Security Institute Chair Julie Nel MSyI. The
session was a fantastic success where members could chat
informally and network amongst all the attendees.

This new event brought together both Fellows (FSyI) and
Young Members (under 35-year-olds) of The Security Institute
two very different membership peer groups, to share industry
comparisons, ideas and concepts and career pathway
options.

We were really pleased to have been joined by Adam
Stothard MSyI, Anas Wihaib MSyI and Dan Brotheridge ASyI,
who each presented a short session that informed the
conversation. We were also thrilled to have been joined by
the Young Members Group Co-Chair Oliver Lacey, and the
then Young Members Group Co-Chair Luuk Niewenhuijze.

After an afternoon of positive conversation and debate the
attendees reconvened in the bar of the Union Jack club and
continued exchanging knowledge, discussing ideas, and
sharing experiences over networking drinks. We would like
to thank all of those involved with this event as well as our
