Introducing our newest


           Special Interest Groups:


           The Frontline Operators SIG






           The Frontline Operators SIG is the latest special interest group to
           launch from the Security Institute, with Rollo Davies MSyI and Karol
           Doherty MSyI leading as Co-Chairs with John Sephton FSyI as the
           sponsoring Director.
           Rollo Davies has been in the security industry for over 30 years in one
           form or another, since joining the Metropolitan Police in 1990. He is
           the Managing Editor of The Professional Security Officer magazine, an
           international online publication that has rapidly become one of the
           biggest physical security focussed, publications in the world.

           In 2020 he became the co-founder of the Guild of Security Industry
           Professionals, a peer support network established to increase
           standards at the coal face of the UK security industry, and finally
           provide a voice for nearly 400,000 previously unrepresented workers.
           In 2019 he was ranked world #2 for security industry “Thought
           Leadership” by the IFSEC Global Organisation and was named winner          Rollo Davies MSyI
           of the Security Institute’s George Van Schalkwyk award for                 FLO SIG Co-Chair
           outstanding contribution to the UK security Industry.

           Speaking on the new SIG Rollo said:

           ‘I hope that the front line professional development SIG grows to
           address issues including: The future and content of mandatory
           training, The public image of the industry, Ways to engage front line
           professionals, The professionalisation of the industry. Problems and
           issues faced by front line operatives and more.....’


           Karol Doherty currently works in the security industry as a security
           specialist officer for a major retail brand on behalf of a man guarding
           security company. He has worked on the front line of the security
           sector for almost 19 years, in numerous different roles from security
           officer to management level and everything in between. He has
           worked in all sorts of environment from corporate offices to door
           supervisor in clubs and events like Glastonbury Festival.                 Karol Doherty MSyI

           Speaking on his hopes for the new Frontline Operators SIG Karol             FLO SIG Co-Chair
           said:

           ‘My goals for the SIG are to get the security officers on the frontline
           more respect by promoting CPD for the frontline security officer,
           then to promote the security industry to the security officer as a
           career and not just a job as most security officers on the frontline
           see it as.’
