People
The Institute believes that taking good care of its employees are
priorities of a socially responsible organisation. We put this into
practice in a wide range of ways including the following:
• We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace
environment that encourages diversity and equal opportunities
for all.
• We actively encourage and invest in employees’ professional
development and professional memberships.
• We proactively support the health and wellbeing of our staff,
and are signatories of the Eventwell manifesto and action plan
to foster happier and healthier work environments, strengthen
how mental health is supported in the workplace, and develop
a ‘whole organisation’ approach to workplace mental health
and wellbeing according to the ‘six core standards’ set out in the
Government’s Thriving at Work 2017 report.
• We provide our team with access to an Employee Assistance
Programme should they need it.
• We support the Living Wage movement and are pursuing
accreditation by the Living Wage Foundation.
Environment
We are committed to reducing our direct impact on the environment,
and our ongoing actions to support this include:
• We offset our carbon footprint through an ongoing subscription
with Ecologi (formerly Offset Earth), to date the Security Institute
has helped plant 723 trees and offset 40.83 tonnes of CO2.
• When travelling on Institute business, our staff use public
transport whenever possible, and car usage is limited to
essential travel only. When needing to use taxis, we book Go
Zero Taxis, a zero-emission, electric taxi service
