Andy Watkin-Child CSyP FSyI
Director of Standards Development
Andy’s portfolio places a significant focus on thought leadership and standards development in
converged security, as part of the Security Institute’s contribution to the development and delivery
of the Cyber Security Council. An engineer by background and also holding a CEng certification, he
has worked in chief information security officer and global risk management roles in a number of
multinational companies and now runs a cyber security consultancy.
Richard Woolford CSyP MSyI
Director of External Engagement
Richard fulfils an external engagement portfolio for the Institute, with a particular emphasis on
promoting the professionalisation of leadership within the security sector, standards and strategic
development with particular interest in the Protect duty and crowded places, and raising the profile
of the Institute. He is also a member of the Audit Committee. Richard works as Strategic Director of
Security and Counter Terrorism at City of London Corporation as well as for the Football Association
as a security and crowd advisor, previously serving with the Metropolitan and City of London Police
and retiring at Commander level.
Alex Yates FSyI
Director of Special Interest Groups
Alex is strongly engaged in the Security Institute’s membership and engagement activities and is
responsible for the creation, implementation and development of the Institute’s special interest
groups. Since leaving the British Army in 2014, Alex Yates has led a number of projects and
programmes within the security sector and is now employed as a Senior Project Manager at North
Yorkshire County Council.
