New Re-launched
Special Interest Group
Artificial Intelligence &
New and Emerging Security Technology (AI + NEST)
We are excited to inform our members that we have relaunched the Special Interest Group to AI+NEST
(AI & New and Emerging Security Technology).
The NEST SIG was initially formed to create a vehicle to discuss and share knowledge about new and
emerging technology in the security industry and how it could be of benefit to The Security Institute
members. The impact of the emergence of AI in all areas of life led to a decision to add AI to the learning
portfolio of the group. It will be important for all members to understand what AI is and how it can be
utilised, and both the positive and negative impact it will have on the security industry.
The aims of this AI+NEST Special Interest Group are to:
• To grow a diverse membership that shares knowledge around AI and new and emerging security
technology.
• To facilitate connections with other relevant SIG’s that will benefit from AI+NEST.
• To support a holistic security approach that encompasses the AI+NEST, physical, and manned security
sectors.
• To develop an open-minded approach to technology that facilitates collaboration and integration
opportunities between members.
• Advocate diversity of ideas, variety of perspectives, and growth of the talent pool in the security industry to
foster innovation in the sector.
• To support minority groups within The Security Institute and encourage more active engagement.
• To promote an inclusive approach to the delivery of security that recognises the needs and expectations of
our diverse members, stakeholders, and communities.
