As a built environment security consultancy, CPTED-UK guides the development through the
project’s security Risk Management. Dedication to maintaining the highest level of competence in
built environment security is essential to their role. It often means going above and beyond the
traditional approaches to security, understanding the wider context, and mixing disciplines in an
           innovative way.

Richard Stones OBE, Director at CPTED-UK said: “Competence is not just about knowing the policies
and being able to quote the various design guides out there. To influence the design, you need to
understand the rationale behind it all, the dynamics of the place-making process, the demands,
restrictions and ambitions of all the stakeholders.”

HOP’s ambitious sustainability goals required CPTED-UK to adopt the highest standards in the areas
of security that impact other ESG dimensions such as inclusivity, accessibility or sustainable
           transport.

The HOP Studios project presents a particularly complex risk profile. The scheme is designed to
perform multiple functions and serve a varied range of users. In addition, it is required to meet the
objectives of some high-profile stakeholders. SABRE provides a Risk Management framework that
can be applied to real estate assets in any circumstances. The SABRE methodology, if applied
correctly, is bulletproof when it comes to compliance with security legal and regulatory requirements.

Richard Stones OBE CSyP FSyI holds the SABRE license on behalf of CPTED-UK. Richard is fully com-
petent in all aspects of SABRE- SQSS, Threat, Risk, Strategy, Technical, and Operations. As such he
provides fully competent security advice on each of the RIBA stages. Consistency between the design,
construction, and operation of the assets is often the most affordable way to achieve security
           compliance.

Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) values SABRE as it recognises the social
dimension of crime. Traditionally the environmental factors considered relevant to security are
limited to the physical features. As a result, the security strategies applied to urban design can also
be limited to physical security measures. SABRE places a strong emphasis on the process of bringing
security into the focus of the entire project team. As such it improves the quality of life by supporting
the mental, physical, social, and environmental well-being of the wider community.

The multi-disciplinary approach advocated by SABRE is one of the most important trends in
           sustainable urban development.
