           Our Remembrance Event

On November 11th, The Security Institute held our annual Remembrance Event as a
virtual event for the first time. Although due to the on-going Coronavirus pandemic
the event differed in many ways to years past, the importance of honouring the
service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community remained the same as ever.

This event is one of the many ways that the Institute continues to recognise the
contributions of our Armed Forces community, the British and Commonwealth
veterans, the Allies that fought alongside us and the civilian servicemen and women
involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

This year we were pleased to have Rick Mounfield CSyP FSyI joined by Colonel
Jeremy Green OBE, who delivered a presentation entitled: ‘Operation OVERLORD:
Britain’s High Watermark’. Colonel Green discussed how the OVERLORD operation
represents Britain’s high watermark as a world military power, and that contrary to
the Hollywood version, the Normandy landings in their planning and leadership,
together with the technology that was developed to support it, and the overall
strategic deception plan that overlay it, were essentially British both in concept,
           design and execution.

Following Colonel Green’s presentation, we hosted a Charity Auction for which all
proceeds went to this year’s chosen charity: The Not Forgotten Association, which is
celebrating its 100th anniversary after proudly supporting veterans since 1920. We
are pleased that the Charity Auction managed to raise raised £1,290 for The Not
           Forgotten Association.

It’s not too late to donate if you wish to support the work of The Not Forgotten
Association, for more information please visit: https://thenotforgotten.org/
