The first ever Security Institute

Virtual Conference Week

This year the Security Institute decided to transform the Annual Conference into a Virtual Conference Week, with a line-up of
industry-leading speakers presenting throughout the week. The Annual Conference is the Institute’s premier CPD event, and the
virtual re-imagining of the event allowed hundreds of security professionals to access hours of free formal learning despite the
on-going COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased that so many of our members decided to join us and take advantage of this fantastic
learning opportunity, with over 800 delegates registering.

Each day on the week commencing October 19th, the Institute hosted two webinar sessions that focused around this year’s theme
of ‘The Science of Security’. Science sits behind the majority of our Security Practices and capabilities. Some are obvious and some
less so. This year’s conference explored some of the benefits science brings to our ability to protect, influence and develop as
security professionals.

Our co-hosts Rick Mounfield CSyP FSyI and Sarah Austerberry CSyP FSyI joined every session at 10:00 and 15:00 BST, drawing on
their years of experience and expert knowledge to enhance the session for all delegates.

One of the benefits of hosting a virtual conference was that we could attract a wide range of expert speakers from time zones
ahead of and behind the UK, which we would not have been able to do with a face-to-face conference. In addition, it allowed
international members from across the globe to easily participate and engage with the Institute.

Alongside the Conference sessions for delegates to attend, the Security Institute also hosted a virtual Exhibition that included
stands for all 8 of our industry-leading sponsors: Business Insight 3, BRE Group, Crime and Fire, G6 Global Communications,
Nedap, Third Millennium, TrackTik and Vanderbilt.
