Our Approved Training Provider Scheme:
Identifying Credible and Affordable
Training Opportunities
As a Professional Body, we have listened to the concerns our members have about
affordable upskilling and training opportunities especially at a time when commitment
to personal and professional development within the sector is at an all-time high. The
Security Institute is keen to support continuing professional development within the
security sector and to achieve this, Director, Angela Vernon-Lawson FSyI has used her
expertise in industry, education and training to create a product which provides both
members and non-members affordable training and education opportunities. The
Security Institute has recently launched the Approved Training Provider (ATP) scheme that Angela Vernon-Lawson FSyI
enables training providers to achieve either the Continuing Professional Development Director of Education
(CPD) or Professional Certification (PC) endorsement. ATP endorsed CPD courses are
typically two hours to half a day in duration and are delivered by security professionals
with extensive knowledge and experience of the course subject. PC courses are longer
in duration, delivered by qualified instructors and include an assessment regime.
However, none of the ATP endorsed courses are accredited by an awarding body but
they do attract CPD points, and the Security Institute has applied due diligence to
ensure all ATP endorsed programmes are credible, relevant, affordable and the quality
of instruction meets the desired standard expected of a Professional Body:
