2021 Elections
In addition to the AGM transforming into a virtual event, this year’s voting also took place digitally in a
first for the Security Institute. All members eligible to vote, which this year was expanded to include Retired
members as well as Professional Grade members (ASyI, MSyI, FSyI), were contacted by our dedicated and
trusted AGM online voting system on 1st April.
During the AGM, the Secretary announced that the 2020 Resolutions and Election Notes had been
approved by the Institute membership with 373 in favour, 1 against and 18 abstaining.
This year’s election for Directors to join the Board were one of the most important in recent years as
there are in effect eight places, up for election at this AGM. This is due to a number of factors. Firstly,
our previous Chair Professor Alison Wakefield CSyP FSyI and Angela Vernon Lawson FSyI retired from
the board after 11 years and six years service respectively creating two vacancies, In addition, Alex
Yates FSyI and Stuart Hughes FSyI resigned from the Board during the year. Sarah Austerberry CSyP
FSyI was co-opted to fill one of these vacant seats during the year and sought election at this year’s
election.
Furthermore, five existing Board members: Tony Aston FSyI, Carl Dakin CSyP FSyI, Mahbubul Islam
CSyP MSyI and Richard Woolford CSyP FSyI had all completed three years of service on the Board, and
offered themselves for re-election for a further three years.
The 8 elected Directors were as follows:
• Tony Aston FSyI
• Sarah Austerberry CSyP FSyI
• Angie Clarke CSyP FSyI
• Carl Dakin CSyP FSyI
• Rowena Fell FSyI
• Rob Kennedy CSyP FSyI
• Mahbubul Islam CSyP MSyI
• Richard Woolford CSyP FSyI
They will each serve a term of three years alongside the familiar faces of Board colleagues Peter

Martin CSyP FSyI, John Sephton FSyI, Stephanie Roberts MSyI and Tony Aston FSyI .Each Board
