Carl Dakin CSyP FSyI
Over the last three years Carl has managed to balance his SyI Director
commitments with managing a small consulting business. In addition, he
has continued to deliver security management education through the
Silverback Security Academy, and more recently has launched a small
manned-guarding company during the first period of lockdown.
As a director, Carl has delivered sage advice and direction to the
board. Carl’s portfolio has included supporting the delivery of the
Approved Training Provider (ATP) scheme and he will continue to assess
applications. He is a CSyP assessor, reviewing applications for the
registration authority. Carl has been involved in multiple Special Interest
Groups and supported the Chief Executive on training delivery with
CPNI, the Penetration testing register with Cabinet Office and supporting
young professionals.
Mahbubul Islam CSyP MSyI
Mahbubul is a highly skilled Cyber Security expert with a detailed grounding in
personnel, procedural, physical, and technical security. Over a 13-year period,
he has led numerous teams on Security engagements in UK Government
Departments. His passion and focus have been on building inclusive and
diverse security teams which are able adapt to the dynamic changes
within security, whilst delivering on Cyber, Technical, Governance, Risk and
Compliance outcomes.
Mahbubul has been engaged as a Board Director at the Security Institute for
the last 3 years, attending board meetings and represented the Institute in
external engagements. In that time, he has represented the Security Institute
on the UK Cyber Security Council Formation Project, a major project for the UK
Cyber Professional development that was led by the Cyber Security Alliance.
In addition to this, Mahbubul has also sponsored the Cyber and Convergence
Special Interest Group. In early 2021, he became the new Deputy Chair.
Richard Woolford CSyP FSyI
Richard served within the Metropolitan and City of London Police,
retiring in 2017 as Commander Operations, with strategic lead for
Counter Terrorism, Security and Operations.
He is now a Strategic Director Security and Counter Terrorism Advisor,
reporting directly to the Chief Executive and City Strategic Security
Board. He is the strategic lead for high-profile security operations,
vulnerability assessments and mitigation across the City of London
Corporation. In addition, Richard advises Football teams, Stadia and
Police across Europe on crowd safety and security
Richard has been a Director for the last three years, sitting on both
Audit and Ethics Committees. He is actively engaged with the wider
security community, representing and helping raise the profile of the
Institute for instance by judging this year’s OSPAs UK.
