Meanwhile, Gareth Hulmes of The Security Institute
hosted a session focusing on security at the ‘building
level’ and how this differs from methodologies adopted
at the ‘product level’. The SABRE standard was used as
a reference point to demonstrate the critical activities
involved in providing assurance to stakeholders, and
how best practice can lead to third-party certification.
The event was rounded off with a panel discussion
concentrating on the issue of ‘spec-busting’ and the
approaches, tools and techniques that can be deployed
to ensure protective security design and mitigation
measures are not diminished post-specification. The
panel (comprising security practitioners Leigh Harper,
Chris Stevens and Mark Lindsay) discussed the merits
of standards and certification, the role of the planning
system along with the drivers and benefits associated
with good protective security, and drew excellent
engagement form the audience.
Congratulations to the team behind this event…
