As we emerge from the lockdown, we will again be taking a new approach - at the Institute this will be
a hybrid approach. We must get back to a physical way of working, but with a new appreciation for the
digital enhancements of a hybrid model of working.

The Hybrid workplace….. A blend of the lockdown, home working environment, where many of us
blurred the lines between working from home and sleeping at work! We found our output increased
but our working hours bled into family time. There were pro’s and con’s and so we now have the
opportunity to take the pros and reintroduce the best aspects of the physical office environment. That
being, the human touch. The teamwork. Looking your team mate in their actual real live eye while
             spitballing ideas.

How does this apply to the Institute? We are reintroducing in-person networking events to our
calender, this stared earlier in the year with outdoor events that allowed members to cautiously gather
for open-air activities such as Clay Pigeon Shooting and Golf days. More recently this has expanded to
include our ever-popular Member Lunches as well as the Fellows Event later in September. These in-
person events will run alongside 2 educational webinars a month and regular REMO online networking
events, meaning that our members can get the best of both worlds.
It doesn’t stop there either! Building on the success of last year’s first ever Virtual Annual Conference,
this year’s Annual Conference will be hosted as a hybrid event at the Royal Society of Medicine on
Wimpole Street in London on 28th October. 300 delegates will attend in-person and more using a
dedicated streaming service, allowing members all over the world to participate. The topic of the
Conference is the ‘Influence of Security’. How do we spread those ideas? The ones worth mentioning.
We gather a remarkable selection of speakers and we let them tell you their thoughts. Each of them
has a purple cow for you. Further details can be found on page 8. It will be epic. I promise!
The Gala awards are back and the venue is the Sea Life Centre on London Embankment. I can’t wait
to dine with friends beside the blue glare of the shark tank! The Chartered Security Professionals
Seminar and Celebratory Dinner on 27th September will be another remarkable event, the perfect
opportunity to celebrate those CSyPs admitted to the register in the past 16 month and the 10 year
             anniversary of the Register.

Also, now we are all growing in confidence the sector’s big exhibitions are back on and we will be
at them all, meeting our members and delivering the experience that everyone wants from their
membership. If you are attending any of the September shows swing by the stand and say hello - we
will be posting our stand info on social media.
I am sure we will see many of you either in-person or online over the coming months.
