Security, Board Director and Other Relevant Experience:
Sarah has 22 years of experience working in and with Government
security in the field of strategic security with private and public bodies
in the UK and overseas.
She has an academic and business background in protective security including research,
application and strategic consultancy and specialist knowledge focused on transport security,
insider risk and personnel security. She was HMG’s head of specialism for personnel security as
part of the Government Security Profession.
Sarah is a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP), a Fellow of the Security Institute and a Certified
Insider Threat (CERT) Program Manager.
Date of Joining the Institute: 2012
Previous Security Institute Involvement:
Sarah was co-opted to the Board in January 2021 to support the Institute’s development in the
areas of personnel security, education, knowledge transfer and media engagement.
Active member including Insider Risk Special Interest Group contributor, regular presenter at
the SyI conference (recent co-host for 2020), Fellowship lunch series and CPD webinars, and the
current Institute link to the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) Steering Group.
Sarah is also a member of the Document and Interview Accessors Panel for Chartered Security
Professionals.
Areas of Interest in the Institute:
• Protective security, particularly raising the profile of insider risk and personnel security.
• Security in education – developing a pathway and narrative from school to university and into
security as a professional career.
• Contributing to the continuing raising of standards in the security profession.
Personal Comment:
As a long-standing member of the Institute, I am now in the position to give back to the Institute
through more active and visible support, making use of my experience, contacts and passion for
all things security for our members.
