Managing Director, Group Head of Risk and Chief Security Officer at
Mitie Group
Security, Board Director and Other Relevant Experience:
Ian is a former Commander with the Metropolitan Police with over
thirty years’ service mainly as a detective. For the last five years of his
service, he worked in CT as the Director of Protective Security and
Aviation Security.
He had several strategic national security responsibilities including NaCTSO, SecCo’s, was the CT
lead for the London Olympic Games and sat on the national CT PROTECT Board.
After policing he joined Deloitte as an Associate Director working in Risk and Corporate Security.
Ian joined Mitie in 2017 and is the Managing Director for Risk and is the company’s CSO.
Date of Joining the Institute: 2008
Previous Security Institute Involvement:
Member of MMAG and various SIGs.
Areas of Interest in the Institute:
Protective Security, Countering Terrorism and Corporate Security.
Personal Comment:
I have worked in policing and security for over 40 years and they have been my life, vocation
and passion. I continue to actively support people interested in security careers and encourage
professionals to join the Security Institute. I hope to bring this experience and desire to the
Institute Board.
