The Security Institute has continued to be a key contributor to the Cyber Security Alliance, a consortium of 16 cyber
Cyber Security Alliance
security-related associations with the common aim of raising standards in current cyber security practices.
In July 2018, the UK Government launched a consultation outlining proposals to develop the cyber security
profession in the UK. A key cornerstone of this consultation was the proposal to create a new, independent UK
Cyber Security Council.
As part of the Cyber Security Alliance, the Security Institute contributed to a bid to design and deliver such a
council, with our Director of Cyber Convergence Strategy Mahbubul Islam CSyP MSyI leading the Security Institute’s
contribution.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) commissioned the establishment of the UK
Cyber Security Council by the Cyber Security Alliance under the leadership of the Institution of Engineering and
Technology (IET) in September 2019.
